Nile cruises between Luxor and Aswan
Every Nile cruise follows the same stretch of river. What changes is the boat — a 5-star cruise ship or a private dahabiya — the direction, Luxor to Aswan or Aswan to Luxor, and how many temples you fit in. Here is the route, and where each of our cruises sits on it.

What actually makes the difference
A local Egypt tour operator, not a booking page
Most Egypt tour itineraries look identical online. What separates a good trip from a frustrating one is who is standing next to you at the temple gate at 7am, and whether anyone answers the phone when a flight moves.
- We board the boats ourselves Cabins, kitchens, filtration. If we would not put our own family on it, we do not sell it.
- Licensed Egyptologist guides Not drivers with a script. Our guides hold Ministry of Tourism licences and studied the sites they show you.
- Nothing is shared Private vehicle, private guide. You decide when to leave Karnak, not a coach schedule.
- One person, start to finish The same person plans your trip, sends the itinerary, and is reachable on WhatsApp while you are here.

How to book your Nile cruise in three messages
Tell us your dates
Message us on WhatsApp with your dates, how many people, and roughly how long you have. That is enough to start.
We send an itinerary and a price
A written day-by-day plan with the boat named, the hotels named, and the total cost. Usually within a few hours. No deposit yet.
Adjust, then confirm
Change whatever you want — most people do. When it looks right, a deposit holds the cabin and we take it from there.
Before you ask us
Nile cruise and Egypt travel questions we answer every day
Is Egypt safe for American and Canadian travellers?
Yes. The tourist corridor — Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, and the Red Sea resorts — is heavily policed and has been stable for years. Most visitors report feeling safer walking in Luxor at night than in a large North American city. The real friction is not danger, it is hassle from vendors and taxi drivers, which a private guide removes almost entirely.
When is the best time to take a Nile cruise?
October to April is the comfortable window, with December and January the busiest and priciest. February and March are the sweet spot: warm days, cool evenings, and temples that are not shoulder to shoulder. May to September is genuinely hot in Upper Egypt — 40°C and above — but prices drop sharply and the boats are half empty.
Should I cruise Luxor to Aswan, or Aswan to Luxor?
Luxor to Aswan sails upstream and usually spends the first day on the biggest sites — Karnak and the Valley of the Kings — while you are freshest. Aswan to Luxor sails downstream, tends to be slightly shorter, and finishes in Luxor, which is easier if you are flying on to Hurghada or back to Cairo. Neither is better; it depends on where your flights land.
What is a dahabiya, and is it worth the extra cost?
A dahabiya is a traditional sailing boat with six to twelve cabins, no engine noise under sail, and a crew that outnumbers the guests. It moors at small islands and villages the 150-passenger ships cannot reach. It costs more and moves slower. If your priority is quiet and the river itself, it is worth it. If your priority is covering the maximum number of temples, take a standard cruise ship.
How far in advance should I book?
For travel between October and April, three to six months is comfortable. Christmas, New Year, and the August 2027 solar eclipse are different — those cabins are typically gone six to twelve months out. Outside high season, a few weeks is often enough.
Do I need a visa, and can I get it on arrival?
Most US, Canadian, UK, and EU passport holders can buy a 30-day tourist visa on arrival at Egyptian airports, or apply online in advance through the official e-visa portal. Your passport needs at least six months of validity remaining. We will confirm the current requirement for your specific nationality when we send your itinerary.
What is not included in your prices?
International flights, your entry visa, tips, and anything you buy for yourself. Everything else — guides, drivers, entry tickets, domestic flights where the itinerary needs them, and meals as stated — is in the quoted price. If something is excluded, it is written on the itinerary in plain language, not buried in a footnote.
